 ACSPN 2015 Conference on “Communication Education and Practice in the Age of New Media”

ACSPN 2nd Annual Conference on “Communication Education and Practice in the Age of New Media” featuring a lead presentation on “Nigeria and the Global Digital Media Economy” by Bukola Akingbade, Chief Executive Officer, Bytesize.

There was a Special Panel on “Challenges and Opportunities of the Digital Media Economy” featuring Mr Ayo Oluwatosin, Group Managing Director, Rosabel Group, Prof Innocent Okoye, Kwara State University, Prof Umaru Pate, Bayero University, Kano, Mr Somieari Davis Jumbo, Assistant Director, New Media and Information
Security Department, Nigerian Communications Commission, Matthew Okoduwa, Assistant Director, Broadcast Policy and Research on the Panel moderated by Bukola Akingbade.

Three groups featured paper presentations. The Annual General Meeting was held with Chido Onumah becoming the new Vice-President, North Central Zone, taking over from Dr Beatrice Okonkwo who becomes an ex-officio member based on her posting to Anambra State as Permanent Secretary.

Targets of membership mobilization by all members, action on organizing zonal programmes by VPs with at least two empowerment programmes before the next annual conference was set and with feedback on performance to be given in 2016.

Communique presemted by the committee Chair, Kunle Ogedengbe and his team of Ifedolapo Ademosu, Thelma Ekanem and Darlington Yartey with inputs from Dr Odion Odiboh, Dr Azeez Adesina, Kabir Alabi Garba and Dare Ogunyombo.

Certificates were presented to all participants by Profs Idowu Sobowale, Lai Oso, Umaru Pate, Dr Hadiza Ibrahim, Alkali Ahmed of Federal University, Gashere, Gombe State, Ichie Ifeanyi Omoekachie, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Raheemat Adeniran of Lagos State University who was recognised for being the most consistent participant in the ACSPN Empowerment Series.
